Great friendly against Scone Bowls Club

Here are the happy tourists just before their first of three matches. They're playing Kirkcaldy tomorrow and Markinch on Friday. Today it's Scone. And although on a family holiday in my home village and not officially with the tourists, I'm joining the contingent of fourteen St Ives bowlers who've made the trip, all of us together on four of the six rinks being played.

The score on our rink is close throughout, with us winning 18-17  on the last end. It's a miracle the overall the score ends at 118-99 in the tourists' favour. The green is playing superbly. Perfectly even on both hands.

Quite a few of our team are a little tiddly, not used to the Scots tradition of taking your opposite number into the clubhouse for a dram at various points during the match. Played in great spirit, a very nice afternoon tea served at the halfway point, and a great start to the tour matches. Scone Bowls Club, my second bowling home, did us proud.

Here's another snap of the playing tourists and Scone bowlers.
