World no 3 playing at St Ives!

Down the bowls club this evening to mark a club competition match. Quite a few spectators around. Nick Brett is playing, world number 3 no less.

We're hosting the county semi finals on Sunday. Selected to play for England that day, one of the other players in the triples match can't make Sunday. So they're playing the match this evening. Both triples are from The White Hart Bowls Club, one of the top clubs in England.

After marking, watched the Warboys players for a while. Their accuracy was amazing. Never more than a few inches out on line and length. What I most noticed about Nick was how smooth and uniform his delivery was every time.

Inspired to have a quick thirteen ends against my friend, who I'd marked for in his 7-21 defeat against one of our top club players. No surprise I lost the first end by 3, given he'd just spent the best part of two hours on that rink. Won the next six ends to go 8-3 ahead, allowing a few ends to slip before finishing 12-11 up. Here's the scorecard.
