Wasn't expecting to turn up to this afternoon's social roll up. But the club competition match planned for the evening was called off a few days ago since there were no rinks free. But wait a minute! Someone has now cancelled their rink booking. A bit of hurried telephoning and the competition match is back on for 6.30pm. And I get to play this afternoon as well... brilliant!
The roll up is triples, three bowls each. One of the hottest days for some time, the temperature on the green must be over 40c in the sunshine. The opposition includes the club's best lead bowler. Going to be a bit of a challenge. But I hardly have a bowl off line all match. We win 24-10.
