Just arrived home after a good performance in the Over 60s. Upstairs fiddling on the iMac. The mobile 'phone rings. It's the Men's 4s A Team captain. Can I play for the A Team tomorrow?
Pity. Got family coming round for tea, so I can't play. What a missed opportunity ~;0(
My wife, downstairs doing some housework, overhears the conversation and the upbeat tone in my voice. Supportively, she calls up 'They're not desperate, are they?'. With friends like that, who needs enemies!
